Haydays by Evans Estabrooks
Haydays is Fredericton resident Evans Estabrooks’ memoir
about growing up in the 1940s and early 1950s on a farm near
Sackville, NB. Equal parts charm and nostalgia, Haydays
begins before the farm had electric lights, refrigeration, or a
washing machine – hard to picture, now, but just the way
things were for rural folk at the time. From The Shadow on
night-time radio to soda crackers loose in a barrel at the
general store, Haydays paints a picture of a curious young
boy’s life with friends, family, and nature around
him. Whether you remember these days or they seem exotic
to you, Haydays will bring a smile.
